What is Cardiogen?
Cardiogen is one of the short peptide bioregulators developed by Vladimir Khavinson’s group in St. Petersburg, with the sequence Ala-Glu-Asp-Arg. It is the cardiac member of the family, designed with reference to peptides from heart tissue.
How it is understood to work
The originating group proposes that it modulates gene expression involved in cell proliferation and apoptosis; reported findings include effects on cardiomyocyte survival and on fibroblast proliferation in culture. A defined receptor target has not been described.
Research status
Research is preclinical, using cardiac cell cultures and rodent models, and is concentrated in Russian-language publications. There are no registered human trials, so conclusions remain provisional.

Handling & storage
Supplied as a lyophilized powder; store unopened vials at -20C away from light, and keep any reconstituted solution refrigerated at 2-8C for short-term use.
Concentration check: adding 2 ml of bacteriostatic water to one 20 mg vial gives 10 mg/ml. The Research Lab calculator in your dashboard works this out for any volume.
Questions
How does Cardiogen differ from Cortagen?
They differ by one amino acid: Cardiogen ends in arginine (AEDR), Cortagen in proline (AEDP). The group associates the first with heart tissue and the second with nervous tissue.
What should a COA show?
Purity by HPLC and a mass-spec result matching the Ala-Glu-Asp-Arg tetrapeptide, together with the measured content per vial.
How much Cardiogen is in this kit?
10 vials of 20 mg each, so 200 mg in total. The lab testing section above shows what the brand’s tested vial actually contained.
